Der Zweck des Fluke 5450 A Widerstandskalibrators liegt darin, Widerstandsbereiche von Präzisionsmultimetern entweder manuell oder automatisch zu kalibrieren.
- Er liefert Festwerte in dekadischen Schritten von
1 Ohm bis 100 MOhm und ebenso von
1,9 Ohm bis 19 MOhm (...weil die Bereichsendwerte meistens mit den Zahlen 19 beginnen...).
- Mittlere Genauigkeit 8 ppm
- 4- und 2- Draht- Betrieb und zusätzlich leichte Speicherung von Korrekturwerten für die Kompensation von Fehlern der Leitungen
- Automatische Fehlerberechnung
Alle Funktionen, die auf der Frontplatte einstellbar sind, sind außerdem über den IEEE-488 Bus (HP-IB) programmierbar.

- The Fluke 5450 A provides cardinal point resistance values in
decade steps from 1 ohms to 100 Mohms and
decade steps from 1.9 ohms to 19 Mohms.
- Midband accuracy 8 ppm
- Four wire connections eliminate the effects of lead resistance or for 2-wire operation you may measure and store the lead resistance value and automatically substract it from the value of each resistor.
- All functions that can be controlled from the front panel may be controlled remotely via IEEE-488 bus (HP-IB).
